Chronic Pain Treatment in Winnipeg
Hands-on and naturopathic care for pain and the inflammation behind it
Two doctors. Two angles. One plan for your pain.
Chronic pain treatment at Nature Doctors in Winnipeg works from the outside in and the inside out. We find and treat the root causes of your pain, from the joints, muscles and nerves involved to the inflammation that keeps pain going.
Dr. Anand Amin, M.D.(IMG), DO(MP) works hands-on, using osteopathic manual therapy to restore how your body moves. Dr. Aminder Singh, ND works from the inside, using naturopathic medicine to calm inflammation and support healing. Both doctors use local hyperthermia, targeted therapeutic heat applied to the painful area. Together, they cover what one approach alone can miss.

Two approaches, one plan
The manual approach
Dr. Anand Amin, M.D.(IMG), DO(MP) is a Registered Osteopathic Manual Practitioner with a focus on chronic pain. He looks at how your joints, muscles, fascia and nervous system work together, then uses gentle, hands-on techniques such as soft tissue work, stretching and joint mobilization to ease restriction and get you moving again. He also uses local hyperthermia to warm and relax tight tissue alongside his hands-on work. Read Dr. Amin’s profile. Dr. Amin is not licensed to practise medicine in Canada.
The naturopathic approach
Dr. Aminder Singh, ND looks at what is driving your pain from the inside: inflammation, nutrition, blood sugar, stress and sleep. He uses local hyperthermia, targeted therapeutic heat applied to the painful area, as part of a naturopathic plan that includes anti-inflammatory nutrition, herbal medicine and acupuncture to calm inflammation and support healing, plus IV therapy when he decides it is suitable for you. Read Dr. Singh’s profile.
Why the combination is so powerful
Hands-on care frees up the area that hurts. Naturopathic care lowers the inflammation that keeps it sore and gives your tissues what they need to repair. When structure and inflammation are both addressed, each kind of care makes the other work better, and your results are more likely to last. Your doctors share one plan, so you never have to piece your care together yourself.

Pain, inflammation and metabolic health
Ongoing, low-grade inflammation is a common thread between chronic pain and metabolic conditions such as insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and fatty liver. Researchers call it metaflammation: excess visceral (belly) fat releases inflammatory messengers such as IL-6 and TNF, which interfere with insulin and keep the body in a constant, low-level state of inflammation. That same inflammation can make nerves and tissues more sensitive, so pain lingers. Calming it is part of every plan. Our care follows three phases:
Find the drivers: a full health history, blood work and a hands-on assessment to look at inflammation, blood sugar, nutrition and the tissues involved in your pain.
Calm the pain and inflammation: osteopathic manual therapy, local hyperthermia and an anti-inflammatory nutrition plan to settle pain and help tissues move and repair.
Rebuild and maintain: nutrition, supplements and lifestyle habits that support healthy blood sugar, weight and metabolism, so pain is less likely to return.

What the research shows
The tools we use for chronic pain treatment are backed by research. The American College of Physicians clinical practice guideline recommends superficial heat for acute and subacute low back pain, based on moderate-quality evidence, and recommends acupuncture for chronic low back pain. A Cochrane review found heat wrap therapy reduced pain and disability. A meta-analysis of randomized trials found osteopathic manipulative treatment reduced pain and improved function in acute and chronic low back pain, with benefits still present three months after treatment.
We ask about every medication and treatment you are on, so your natural care plan fits safely with the rest of your care.

No. You can contact Nature Doctors directly to get started.
Who should I book with?
Either doctor is a great place to start. If your pain feels mostly like stiffness, restricted movement or one area that is stuck, start with Dr. Anand Amin, M.D.(IMG), DO(MP). What is local hyperthermia?
Local hyperthermia is targeted therapeutic heat applied to a specific painful area, such as a joint or the low back, to boost blood flow and relax tight tissue. Both Dr. Aminder Singh, ND and Dr. Anand Amin, M.D.(IMG), DO(MP) use it as part of your plan.
What is osteopathic manual therapy?
Osteopathic manual therapy is gentle, hands-on care that looks at how your joints, muscles, fascia and nervous system work together. Dr. Anand Amin, M.D.(IMG), DO(MP) uses techniques such as soft tissue work, stretching and joint mobilization to ease restriction and improve movement.

How much does it cost?
Consultation fees are set by each practitioner, and our front desk can tell you the current fee when you book. Your practitioner will review the cost of any testing or therapies with you before you start.
Is it covered by insurance?
